Forest Killarney Football Club is delighted to introduce Billy Keir, the 2018 Technical Director. He will head up the ongoing development of coaches and players throughout the 2018 season.
Billy has coached at FKFC for 8 years and has recently competed his C licence with the goal to commence a B licence course later on this year.
He is instrumental in the planning and establishment of the F.F.A. Coach Coordinator Program at FKFC for the 2018 Winter season, a program which will provide a mentoring structure for all coaches of all levels within the club; the operations of our Forest Summer Football Competition and the FKFC School Holiday Camps. He is also currently working on the establishment of our new FKFC Player Academy due to commence for Term 1 in 2018 (details to follow soon)
Billy has played football from an early age and played semi professional football in his homeland of Scotland. He then continued his playing career for Auburn and Rockdale in the NSW State league and afterwards for Dee Why after relocating to the Northern Beaches. His highlight was playing alongside George Best in the Dee Why vs Manly game in 1983 in front of a crowd of 5000 people at Cromer Park. Dee Why may have lost that night but George was playing at his Best!
Billy’s mission is to bring a professional level of coaching to FKFC, and is dedicated to encouraging all ages, both female and male players to continue/renew/start a love of football with FKFC, and he would love to see you all at Melwood Oval to meet and talk about the changes that are being made at the club.
It has been fantastic to see a considerable increase in women’s teams in the Forest Summer Competition this year, and Billy is working hard to offer women the opportunity to train and develop with FKFC year round.
He is particularly excited about the investment of new training equipment by the club this year, including our brand new small size portable aluminium goals to the set of full size portable goals we purchased in November. These will greatly assist with the development of all ages of player. The Senior Player Prehab program paid by the club, which will be rolled out in the coming weeks, will take player care to a new level at Forest. There is also the refurbishment of the changing rooms at Melwood and Killarney and the club is actively working with Northrn Beaches council to secure a new clubhouse at Melwood. The plans look fantastic! Wow!
Billy will be making regular announcements and sharing football news throughout the year on our Facebook , Instagram and Website informing our valued members of all the exciting developments happening in the Club.
