Match Information

Match Fixtures are available here on iCompMan

Q: What time are the games played and how long do matches last?
All matches are played on Monday evenings and Friday evenings.  Match times cannot be finalised until closer to the end of team registration. This is due to the number of teams registering per age group, which subsequently determines the schedule of games. Timing must also ensure that participant numbers do not exceed the COVID-19 participant limits at crossover time between 2 sessions.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Depending on extreme circumstances (such as dangerous weather conditions requiring cancellation of matches), some age groups may need to have the occasional re-scheduled match on a Monday or Friday evening (ie. not the usual game night for the age group).  We will endeavour to avoid this situation if at all possible however if it becomes necessary we will provide as much notice as possible.

Q. Where are the matches held?
All matches will be held on Melwood Oval, primarily on the all-weather fields.  Some games may be played on the grass fields next to the synthetic fields, however this is shared fairly amongst teams within age groups.  Details of match location will be listed on the draw.

A site map will also be on display at Melwood Oval on competition nights.  Managers will need to ensure their teams are aware of the exact match location as change-over times are tight and matches will commence on time.  There are frequent changes to fields during competition weeks so please check the field allocated to your games on match day in case of any necessary last-minute changes.

Q. Does our team need to provide a referee, goals or soccer ball?
No, a referee, goals and soccer balls will be provided for all matches.

For U6 to U9 games, all referees provided will be juniors aged U13 and above.  These junior referees will have training specifically for Summer Football rules, not for Winter season rules. Please respect our referees and remember that this is a social competition.

For U10 to U12 games, referees may be juniors aged U13 and above, or qualified junior referees. Please respect our referees and remember that this is a social competition.

For U13 and above, referees will be qualified. Please respect our referees and remember that this is a social competition.

Please note that this format is similar to the Winter season where all matches for U6 to U12 are volunteer parent referees. Please offer as much respect to these young referees as you do with Parent referees.

Q. Who records match results?
The referee will record the match results.  Team managers are encouraged to also keep track of the score and after each match, review the final score with the Referee and your opposition before the score is submitted electronically.  Results will be updated online within 24 hours in most cases.

Q. Will matches be cancelled if it is raining?
Generally no – Melwood is an all-weather playing field so matches will go on despite the weather unless it is considered unsafe.  If for some reason there is a requirement to cancel matches a message will be posted on the home page of the website, the FKFC Facebook page and an email will also be sent to all Team Managers.

If a match needs to be stopped during play due to unsafe weather conditions, each team must stay at the grounds (in a safe area in and around the clubhouse) in case the match restarts.  Any team that leaves before the match is officially cancelled by the referee or official staff will forfeit the game. Please listen for announcements over the PA system.

Where matches are cancelled, we will endeavour to find an alternative time to reschedule matches, however this cannot be guaranteed

Q. Will games be cancelled in the event of poor Air Quality?
If the Air Quality Index as determined by the NSW Government is at a Very Poor to Hazardous level, FKFC reserves the right to cancel matches.  If the Air Quality Index is at a Poor Level but local conditions are deemed to be adequately improved, games may still proceed.  However parents and/or players should make their own decision about whether they should participate in such situations, and FKFC will not penalise teams who choose not to attend due to health concerns.  If for some reason there is a requirement to cancel matches, a message will be posted on the home page of the website, the FKFC Facebook page and an email will also be sent to all Team Managers.
