W14-1 Match Report v Wakehurst

W14 Match Report Round 5 vs Wakehurst

May 9 | 2-0 (Natalie,Lily)

After coming off a great win the previous week against last seasons champions, the FKFC W14-1 girls were back home at Melwood on Sunday morning against the Orange Machine of Wakehurst. This was the first game the full squad of girls were available. It was however a difficult start for Forest with them struggling to hold procession and having to soak up a lot of defending, lead by Briana at the back .

Then about midway through first half Forest started to get some good position going forward and a few corners came our way. From one of these, the ball came over & the Wakehust keeper parried a shot and Natalie was in position from 5 metres out to sweep in a goal. Another great opportunity came just minutes later when Penny broke clear from half way but the keeper made a great one on one save.

Second half began with Forest continuing to push forward. Izzy was on a darting run but pulled down with a big impact. The true greatness of our game was shown with the Wakehurst coach supporting with her welfare on the field.

Chances came to Megan, Rory & Natalie again but the Wakehust keeper made some amazing saves.
It wasn’t until the last minute of the game when the ball was won back by the Forest forwards on the half way and laid off to Lily who ran half the length of the field to calmly slot the ball past the Wakehurst keeper. Game over with a 2-0 win, which all 15 players contributed well to. That made it 3 wins in the first 3 games and great start to the season for Forest W14-1 girls.
